Statement Marking National Volunteer Week: Mayor Crombie

“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I want to acknowledge the tremendous volunteers who dedicate their time, talent and treasure year-round, toward important local causes.

“I truly believe in the positive difference volunteering makes, and have joined countless others in using personal time to give back to make our community stronger.

“This year we mark the celebrated occasion of the 150th anniversary of Confederation and our nation’s founding. As we reflect on Canada’s proud past and promising future, our country continues to be shaped by thoughtful and committed citizens who unselfishly give back toward elevating the quality of life for people in communities across our nation.

“I have always said that to be Canadian, is to be confident and compassionate. We encourage you to show your compassion by volunteering your time and talent as part of the Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge – a nation-wide call to cation.

“The goal is to have Canadians give 150 hours of volunteer time in 2017 in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. Visit www.mississauga.ca to find local volunteer opportunities and to do your part.”
