Statement by Mayor Crombie on Syria Migrant Crisis
The following is a statement by Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie on the ongoing Syrian migrant crisis

“The Syrian migrant crisis is a human tragedy that requires the world’s attention and intervention. Canada has historically been a lifeline to refugees seeking safety and shelter and we must be so again.

“I strongly urge the federal government to do everything in its power to help those in need and provide as many refugees as possible with safety here in Canada. Mississauga is home to a large number of Syrians and I encourage all residents to donate to the aid agencies like the Red Cross (http://www.redcross.ca/) the United Nations Refugee Agency (http://www.unhcr.ca/) and the local Lifeline Syria-Toronto (https://lifelinesyria.ca/) – we can all do our part to help.

“I join other mayors across the country, including John Tory to encourage all citizens to get involved and do what they can to help
