Before entering public office, I enjoyed an extensive career in the private sector. I had the privilege of working for global businesses like Disney and McDonalds. I was also a founding partner of Cargo Cosmetics.

I continue to cherish my experience in business. And as mayor, I am committed to doing what I can to help unleash the potential of local entrepreneurs and their job-creating ideas. One such way to do this is by bringing people and organizations together. This Wednesday the City of Mississauga, the Research Innovation Commercialization (RIC) Centre and Angel One Investor Network will host First Look – Mississauga’s first ever angel investor networking opportunity.

One such business participating during the event is PaymentEvolution; CEO and co-founder, Sam Vassa, recently said: “As one of Canada’s largest and most loved cloud payroll and payments companies we’ve always been advocates for small businesses. The AngelONE FirstLook event hosted by the City of Mississauga is our opportunity to connect with some of the most savvy investors in Canada. We’re grateful for the opportunity to participate.”

This event is an exciting collaboration between five regional innovation centres and five angel investment groups. I look forward to seeing real results emerge from this first-ever networking opportunity.
