Orthodox Christian and Eastern Catholic Christmas Statement by Mayor Crombie

Orthodox Christian and Eastern Catholic Christmas Statement by Mayor Crombie

“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Council, I would like to extend Orthodox Christians and Eastern Catholics best wishes for a very Merry Christmas.

“Christmas is a much anticipated and most joyous occasion. People in churches throughout Mississauga – and in towns and cities across Canada – turn to scriptures, hymns and prayer to retell the story of the birth of Jesus Christ.

“The virtues of peace, compassion and generosity are embodied during this season. I would like to recognize all those Mississaugans who demonstrate these virtues year round, including our food banks, and our charities and community organizations for their hardworking volunteers, and for their commitment to tackling poverty by ensuring local families have access to food, shelter and kind and compassionate support.

“For all Mississaugans, Christmas and the holidays are a time for families and friends to come together, reflect on cherished moments, and make new memories.

“It’s also a time for personal reflection and to celebrate the lives of those loved ones that we have lost, and continue to remember in our thoughts, hearts and prayers.

“From all of us in Mississauga, during this Christmas season, I wish peace and goodwill to communities throughout the world.”
