Mayor Crombie Welcomes CBS Film and Television Studios, First of Its Kind to Mississauga

CBS Film and Television Studios announced today that they are building a new 260,000 square foot film and television studio in Mississauga to help the network meet the growing demand for a variety of new shows.

The new facility will feature 6 sound stages and is the largest studio that CBS has opened in Canada.

“I’m excited to officially welcome CBS’s new film and television studio to Mississauga – the first one of its kind in our City and a major investment for this industry. CBS will bring more highly-skilled jobs to our City and make us an international destination for film and television” said Mayor Crombie.

Mississauga is home to 90,000 businesses from a variety of sectors including aerospace, food and beverage, life sciences and advanced manufacturing. This welcomed addition of CBS will help put Mississauga on the international map for film and television.

Mayor Crombie was approached earlier this spring to discuss CBS’s desire to secure Mississauga as a site for this new investment. Working closely with our City’s Planning and Economic Development Office, CBS was able to quickly secure the required approvals in order to make today’s announcement possible.

“I’m proud that our months of hard work to secure this investment has finally paid off. Mississauga is a top destination for talent, with two-thirds of our residents possessing post-secondary degrees. With CBS expected to attract hundreds of new jobs to the region, they will find no shortage of highly-skilled talent in our City.”

Since becoming Mayor, Bonnie Crombie has made attracting global business investment to Mississauga a top priority. Working closely with our City’s Economic Development Office, who was recently awarded as one of the top ten economic development offices in all of Canada,  CBS was able to make today’s announcement a reality.

“Today’s announcement by CBS is proof that our strategy to grow Mississauga into a global world-class City, a place where companies choose to grow and invest is working.  Mississauga is open for business, Mississauga is working,” added Mayor Crombie.
