Mayor Crombie’s Statement on Ramadan

“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I join with our local Muslim community to recognize the beginning of Ramadan.

“For Muslim families in Mississauga and around the world, the Holy Month of Ramadan marks a period of fasting and family, prayer and peace, discipline and devotion, and of community.

“As families gather to renew their faith at neighbourhood mosques, all Mississaugans are given the opportunity to understand and appreciate the invaluable contributions that the Muslim community has made to the city, and to the country.

“As we celebrate Canada’s 150th year of Confederation, we are reminded how enriched we are by those faith communities and spiritual leaders who work to elevate the quality of life of our most vulnerable. Mississauga’s diversity is our strength. We are fortunate to be home to people of different cultural backgrounds and faiths, equally committed to elevating the quality of life for our world-class community.

“I am proud to be the Mayor of a City that is home to an active, engaged and thoughtful Muslim community that strengthens the social fabric of our community and contributes back to our neighbourhoods. On behalf of all Mississaugans, I wish the Muslim community in Mississauga and across the country a peaceful Ramadan.

“Ramadan Mubarak!”
