Mayor Crombie’s Statement Marking Yom Kippur
“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I offer my sincerest best wishes to all residents observing Yom Kippur, the most sacred and holy day in the Jewish calendar.
“This evening family, friends and neighbours in Mississauga, and in communities across Canada, will gather at synagogues to celebrate their faith, and participate in enriching prayer.
“During Yom Kippur, members of the Jewish community will personally reflect on, and be guided by, the principles of atonement and repentance in preparation of the Jewish New Year.
“As we look toward the New Year ahead, let us all commit ourselves to showing respect toward one another. In doing so, we will build more welcoming communities where people, of all faiths, are free to live their lives in peace.
“Gemar chatima tovah.”
