Mayor Crombie Responds to Throne Speech

The following is a statement by Mississauga Mayor Crombie in response to the federal government’s 2015 Throne Speech, released today:

“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I welcome news that the Trudeau government has reaffirmed its commitment to make significant new investments in public transit and social infrastructure, following the reading of today’s Throne Speech.

“As the Trudeau government moves forward, I am encouraged that Mississauga has a strong voice in Ottawa.

“Mississauga-Malton MP, Navdeep Singh Bains, is Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. Mississauga Centre MP, Omar Alghabra, is Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Consular Affairs).

“I am confident that with our entire Mississauga delegation in Parliament, the issues of importance to our community’s residents will be addressed.

“Working together, we will achieve real results including dedicated and predictable funding for public transit and infrastructure; new efforts to ignite local economic development opportunities to attract job-creating investments; and increased support to build more affordable housing”.
