Mayor Crombie Marks the Beginning of Hanukkah

“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I join with our residents to mark the beginning of Hanukkah, which symbolizes the virtues of perseverance, hope and faith.

“During this eight-day holiday, families will renew their fidelity to the timeless and enriching teachings, prayers and readings that embody Judaism.

“Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is observed in part by singing songs, the playing of dreidels, and with the lighting of menorahs.

“For all Mississaugans, Hanukkah is an opportunity to better understand and appreciate the contributions our Jewish community have made toward building a dynamic, engaging and inclusive city.

“I wish everyone a very memorable, celebrated and blessed Hanukkah.

“Chag Hanukkah Sameach!”
