Mayor Crombie Marks Pakistan Independence Day

“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I join with our local Pakistani community to commemorate the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day.

“This year marks the 70th anniversary of when Pakistan became a sovereign nation. On this day, Pakistan families will gather to reflect on their country’s history, heritage, culture and national identity.

“These families will also open their doors to their neighbours, so that all people may better understand and appreciate Pakistani culture and traditions.

“Mississauga is home to a vibrant, compassionate and engaged Pakistani community who continue to invest back in our City as businesses owners, volunteers, faith leaders, and active residents committed to making Mississauga an even better place to call home.

“In December I welcomed then Pakistan Consul General, Asghar Ali Golo, to City Hall for an official visit. Strengthening relations between Mississauga and global communities is a leading priority for all Council.

“Once again, I offer my best wishes to everyone recognize Pakistan Independence Day.”
