Mayor Crombie, Councillor Tovey, Hold Successful Community Office Hours

Lakeview – I want to thank the huge crowds of engaged residents who braved the snowstorm and joined us for our Ward 1 Community Office Hours, Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie said today.

“This was a great opportunity for both myself and Councillor Tovey to meet with residents directly in their neighbourhoods and to hear issues, ideas and solutions to improve Mississauga’s quality of life,” Crombie said.

“We had a tremendous turnout and discussed important issues ranging from local planning developments, public transit, support for small businesses and community services, among so many others.

“A special thank you to Councillor Jim Tovey and his office for helping host and organize our inaugural community office hours meeting,” Crombie added.

“Mayor Crombie and I would like to thank the residents of Ward 1 for attending the introductory ward office hour’s initiative of the Mayor’s Office,” Ward 1 Councillor Jim Tovey said. “We appreciate their thoughtful and considerate advice on the issues affecting our City,” Tovey added.

“I would personally like to thank Mayor Crombie and her staff for initiating these wonderful one-on-one conversations.”

During the election Mayor Crombie pledged to hold one-on-one office hours in a different Mississauga ward each month. On Monday March 2nd, 2015, Mayor Crombie and Councillor Karen Ras will hold Ward 2 Community Office Hours at the Clarkson Community Centre.

“Over the next four years, I will work with all members of Council to bring City Hall to the people,” Crombie said.

“I pledge that openness, accountability, and accessibility are hallmarks of this new Council term. They are my commitment to the people of Mississauga, as their new Mayor,” Crombie concluded.
