Mississauga has earned its 11th consecutive ‘AAA’ credit rating from Standard and Poor’s Rating Services (S&P).  The service noted “strong economic fundamentals, exceptional liquidity and very low debt burden” as key to the City’s success.

S&P added that the City’s financial management, including its policies, audited statements and detailed budgets, had a positive impact on its credit profile.  This information provided “transparent, easy-to-access disclosure.”

“City Council and staff work hard all year to make sure the City’s finances are managed properly,” said Gary Kent, commissioner, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer.  “It’s gratifying for us to know we have S&P’s confidence.”

S&P noted that the outlook for the City is stable.
