Douglas Kwan is the Associate Executive Director at Mississauga Community Legal Services, a community legal clinic that provides poverty law services to Mississaugans living with poverty.  His primary areas of expertise are housing and social assistance law.  He is also involved in law reform initiatives and going out to the community to speak about legal rights.

Douglas is a key contributor to the Peel Poverty Reduction Strategy (PPRS) committee since its inception in 2008.  He is particularly proud of the work that resulted in the PPRS` three year action plan to reduce poverty in Peel.  In 2011, he was selected to the Community Advisory Board of Peel`s Homelessness Partnering Strategy.  The group funded programs and capital projects aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness in Peel Region.

A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, Douglas worked at the student legal aid clinic providing immigration law services to the Jane and Finch community.  After being Called to the Bar, Douglas became the Chair of the Board of Directors at a Toronto legal clinic and founded a Pro Bono Immigration law service at Woodgreen Community Services of Toronto.
