With Susan Amring, Director of Economic Development, and the team of professionals from the City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office.

Earlier I met one-on-one with the tremendous team of professionals from the City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office (EDO). This was an opportunity for us to discuss solutions to attract foreign-direct investment, help young entrepreneurs, support existing businesses, and generate economic development.

During my campaign for mayor I spoke about the need to implement strategies to help Mississauga grow its thriving economy. In particular, I made a commitment to work with Members of Council and our EDO team to better market Mississauga to the world to attract new global investments. As I look back on my past six months in office, I am proud that we have launched the new Mississauga International Partnership Program Committee (MIPP), which brings together business and public-sector leaders, to help us better achieve just this.

Throughout my meetings, I also had the opportunity to speak with the team from the Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre (MBEC), who are ready to help start-ups and growing small businesses reach higher.  Located at Central Library, MBEC provides free business information and services, free business plan reviews, and young entrepreneur programs, among many other important services.

I also met with Paola Silk from Shilango Jewellery and Val and Maria Krampac from The Cake Collective. These are just two success stories of the flourishing businesses that MBEC and EDO staff have worked to support.

I have always said Mississauga is a leading city to start a business, expand services offerings, and achieve unrivalled success. I encourage you to come see for yourself!
