Mayor Crombie Marks Thanksgiving 2017, Final Push for #OneBagChallenge
“On behalf of the City of Mississauga and Members of Council, we wish the residents, families and neighbours of our community, a very joyous, celebrated and happy Thanksgiving.
“During this Thanksgiving weekend, loved ones will gather together, reflect on cherished memories, and make new ones together.
“Despite the many opportunities and blessings that come with living in Mississauga, some of our neighbours face ongoing challenges. They are in need of additional care, guidance and support.
“Fortunately, we can all make an important, positive and lasting difference today. There is still time to take part in the 2017 Mayor’s City-Wide Food Drive.
“As part of the food drive, I have issued the One Bag Challenge.
“Our goal is to raise $125,000 and 225,000 pounds of food by this Friday October 13th.
“This would make it the food bank’s biggest Thanksgiving ever!
“The One Bag Challenge is a call to action. You are encouraged to fill one bag or more with nutritious food.
“Post your photo or video on social media and challenge five people to do the same within 48 hours. Make sure to use the hashtag #OneBagChallenge! You have 48 hours to bring your bag to the donation bin at your local grocery store, nearest fire station or The Mississauga Food Bank.
“You can also visit www.themississaugafoodbank.org to make a donation online!
“My sincere thanks to everyone who has already donated their time, talent and treasure toward the #OneBagChallenge.
“Once again, on behalf of Council and staff, we wish all residents a very happy Thanksgiving.”
